Australian Freestyle Motocross star Josh Sheehan is cementing his status as a new force to be reckoned with in the world of Freestyle MX by winning each of the three rounds of IFMXF Night of the Jumps rounds in Hamburg, Germany and Basel, Switzerland this past week.

The Valyside Apparel and Carlton Dry Honda FMX team rider, Josh Sheehan’s assault on the world stage came when he made his first appearance of 2011 in the UEM European Championship and winning in Hamburg, Germany. Sheehan clinched his first win by narrowly beating Libor Podmol with his Ruler and Lazyboy flips and finishing with 360-Heelclicker in the Double Up.

But this would be the precursor to the following weekend in Basel, Switzerland where Josh would show why he is one of the best riders in Freestyle Motocross right now in the 3rd and 4th round of the FIM World Championships. Coming from his first win, Josh had a target painted on him as the rider to beat, but unfortunately for the rest of the field, Sheehan stepped up his game again to stand at the top of the podium in each round, making it a hat-trick of wins for the young Australian.

Sheehan, ever humble in his achievements, was surprised he would be the winner three rounds in a row. “I made minor mistakes in the first qualifying rounds, and after watching how good the other riders like Villegas, Podmol, Bizouard were, I knew I had to do everything to be on the podium” Sheehan said.

But it was Sheehan’s silky smooth style and perfect extension on the biggest tricks that propelled him to the top. And it is this level of riding that has seen him win the New Zealand Farm Jam earlier in 2011 and also performing on the world-class Nitro Circus Live tour in the previous month throughout New Zealand and Austrlia.

Sheehan is now preparing for the next FIM World Championship round in Munich, Germany, where he is hoping to once again stand atop the podium, before flying to Las Vegas the following week to perform a ‘world first’ in a special 3D Launch of Nitro Circus Live tour.

Josh Sheehan is supported by Carlton Dry Honda racing team, Valyside and Dragon.
