Western Australian clothing brand; Valyside Apparel, hosted the impressive first Freestyle MX coaching event on Saturday, July 9th, and in doing so, discovered the next generation of Freestyle MX stars with S & S FMX Coaching’s Matt Schubring and Steve Sommerfeld.

The sold-out freestyle coaching event exceeded all expectations, and delivered not just a great course, but a relaxed environment that each of the riders were inspired to learn new aspects of jumping, trick development and some riders learning to jump a Freestyle ramp for their first time.

West Oz FMX underground guru Billy Hepi's compound is the best location in the state for the boys to get together for a FMX jam session so it was long overdue for the HGM team to pay a visit to capture the action.

For the past couple of years legend Oz FMX star Steve Sommerfeld and Matt Schubring have been working behind the scenes with the Queensland Government, Motorcycling Queensland and many other helpers to get a new bike park off the ground and running in Queensland.

The boys had to swap riding gear for suits and dirt jumps for concrete pavements to get things rolling but it's starting to pay off.

Motorcycling Queensland, the operators of Australia’s newest trail bike riding park at Wyaralong, Queensland, hosted over 200 trail riders at the 745-hectare site on Sunday March 27.

Josh “Sheeny” Sheehan is the best FMX rider West Australia has ever produced and he is fast making his name as one of the best FMX riders in Australia.

Recently while in South Australia for a bunch of shoots for the series going to air on July 7 on Fuel tv we grabbed a few promo girls and checked out some of the finest BMX and FMX riders the state has to offer.

It’s not often a company reaches deep into their pockets to put on an epic FMX, BMX and Hip Hop demo for free as a thanks to the crew that have supported them. But that’s exactly what Seb and the crew from Valyside Apparel did at the very cool Valyside compound just east of Perth.

The compound was newly prepped for the big day with 6 dirt hits and two 75ft ramp setups plus a BMX rhythm section and a truck for hip hop acts like the Freek Styles and Downside to rap on.

24yr old Valyside team rider Steve Sommerfeld from Tiaro in Queensland is the Mr Nice Guy of Australian FMX. Steve is a very good FMX rider with a big bag of tricks and thanks to plenty of time on the dirt jumps at home and at Matt “Schuie” Schubring’s place he’s a good natural terrain rider as well. The proof being a recent first place at the 2008 New Zealand Farm Jam natural terrain event.

What better way to spend Australia Day than riding with a big bunch of mates eh? Well that's how the South Queensland crew spent their Oz Day anyway at local FMX rider Adam Bayards place located not far east from Brisbane. It had been hot, wet and bloody humid for weeks but this time the summer monsoons stayed away, the sun came out and a sick ride session went down in stifling heat.

20yr old Rob Adelberg from Benalla in Victoria is arguably the first of the new age FMX riders. At a baby faced 14yrs of age he got his first photos in Freerider MX mag busting out killer grab tricks on a CR80 and from that time on he has steadily progressed to be one of the finest riders in Australia.
